Deutsche Bank Festival of Performing Arts: Re-scheduled dates announced for the French and English Speech and Drama Sessions.
Eisteddfod sessions that were cancelled due to recent weather conditions have been rescheduled and will now take place on Tuesday 18th January 2011 at the Jersey Arts Centre.
The French Section classes, which had to be cancelled in December, will hold the special ‘Mini Gala’ and own choice classes at 1pm. The session will culminate with the duologue and group classes including choral speaking, French play and songs. Tickets, priced at £2, are available on the door with children and students invited to attend for free.
The Gala Concert of the English Speech and Drama Section, which was originally due to take place in November, has also been rescheduled for January 18th. The curtain will go up at 7.30pm for the performances and trophies will also be presented to the category winners. Tickets are on sale from the Arts Centre Box Office between 10am and 8pm Monday to Saturday or by calling 700444. Tickets are priced at £9 for adults and £4.50 for children or students in full time education.
Christine Hamon, General Administrator of the Jersey Eisteddfod, commented:
“We are delighted the Eisteddfod participants who missed their opportunity to perform during the recent snow have another opportunity to take to the stage on the 18th of January. The sessions promise to offer excellent entertainment and I hope Islanders will come along to enjoy a high standard of speech and drama and congratulate the winners.”
