Fund administration jobs in Jersey: why demand has changed

Fund administration has become a much bigger part of Jersey’s employment market over the past few years.

The latest Statistics Jersey labour market data shows that fund administration employment increased by 690 jobs between December 2019 and December 2025, a rise of 58%. In December 2025, the sector employed around 1,890 people, its highest level since the current series began.

That growth stands out even within Jersey’s financial-services sector, where total employment increased by only 4% over the same six-year period. It also contrasts with banking, where employment fell by 770 jobs, and trust administration, which fell by 420.

For employers, this helps explain why experienced fund administrators remain in demand and why the market for people with the right technical background can feel increasingly tight.

Jersey’s funds sector has continued to develop while becoming more specialised. Administration teams are supporting structures that can involve private equity, real estate, alternative assets and cross-border investors, with increasing expectations around governance, reporting, regulation and client service.

The underlying market remains active. At the end of March 2026, Jersey had 233 managers marketing more than 458 funds into the EU through National Private Placement Regimes, according to Jersey Finance.

This creates demand across several levels of fund administration. Employers need trainees and junior administrators entering the sector, but the tighter part of the market is often at experienced level, where businesses are looking for people who can manage portfolios, deal directly with clients, understand fund structures and take on greater responsibility quickly.

Current direct-employer recruitment reflects that spread, with vacancies ranging from trainee fund administrators and fund accountants through to senior administrators, managers and senior client roles.

The challenge is that fund businesses are often recruiting from the same relatively small pool of experienced people.

A candidate with several years of Jersey funds experience, professional qualifications and exposure to complex structures may already have a strong position with an existing employer. They are not necessarily searching job boards or actively applying for another role, even where they may be open to the right opportunity.

There is also competition for related skills. Accounting and compliance employment in Jersey has risen by 32% since 2019, while fund management employment has also increased. People with experience spanning fund administration, accounting, governance or compliance can therefore have several possible career routes within the financial-services market.

This is one reason an advertised vacancy does not always show the full candidate market.

AP Personnel works with junior to mid-management professionals across Jersey’s financial-services sector and maintains regular contact with candidates working in funds, accounting, compliance, trust and administration.

For employers, that means we can look beyond those who are actively applying for jobs and approach people whose experience may fit a vacancy but who are not currently visible in the open market.

The broader Jersey labour market also remains tight. In the latest Business Tendency Survey, 50% of businesses said staff or skills shortages were limiting their activity. Within finance, businesses reported moderately positive recent activity and expectations for the following quarter.

That combination matters for fund employers. The sector has expanded substantially, but the supply of experienced candidates does not automatically increase at the same rate.

As a result, recruitment in funds is increasingly about knowing who is available, who may be considering a move and where relevant experience can be found across neighbouring areas of financial services.

AP Personnel’s Jersey team works closely with employers and candidates across the island and can provide a current view of the fund administration market, candidate availability and salary expectations.
