Fund Administration & Investments Recruitment

AP Personnel supports clients hiring fund and investment professionals from trainee administrator through to assistant manager level across Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man. We recruit for permanent, temporary and contract roles across fund administration, transfer agency, investor services, investment operations and fund oversight.

Funds are the largest employer within the islands’ finance sector, and fund administration is the discipline most people in it work in. Our consultants work with clients to identify candidates whose experience matches the asset class, structures and systems involved, rather than the job title alone.

Fund and investment roles we recruit for

AP Personnel recruits for a range of fund and investment roles, including:

  • Fund Administrator

  • Senior Fund Administrator

  • Trainee Fund Administrator

  • Assistant Fund Administrator

  • Fund Services Administrator

  • Investment Administrator

  • Investment Operations Administrator

  • Transfer Agency Administrator

  • Investor Services Administrator

  • Investor Relations Assistant

  • Fund Oversight Administrator

  • Fund Governance Administrator

  • Client Services Administrator, Funds

  • Fund Reporting Administrator

  • Private Equity Administrator

  • Real Estate Fund Administrator

  • Team Leader, Fund Administration

  • Assistant Manager, Fund Administration

The useful detail in a funds brief is the asset class, the structures, the systems and the level of investor contact, because those four factors largely determine whether a candidate contributes to the first week or the third month. We work with clients to establish them before a role is advertised.

Working in a fund domicile

Guernsey and Jersey are long-established fund domiciles with a concentration in private equity, real estate and other alternatives rather than retail funds, and this shapes the work considerably.

Administrators here deal with drawdowns and distributions, capital accounts, limited partnership structures, board and committee papers and investor queries, rather than daily dealing on a retail platform. Candidates arriving from an onshore retail background generally adapt, but the difference is real and worth setting out in the job description.

Transfer agency and investor services

Transfer agency is a distinct market with its own candidate pool, and clients regularly find it difficult to fill because general fund administrators do not automatically cross over.

The work covers investor onboarding, subscriptions and redemptions, register maintenance, distribution payments and investor queries. It sits between administration and client service, and it is a realistic route into funds for candidates from banking operations or client services backgrounds.

Fund oversight, governance and reporting

Where administration is outsourced, or a manager runs its own governance function, oversight roles cover monitoring the administrator, preparing board and committee packs, coordinating audit and supporting regulatory reporting.

These roles are fewer in number and suit candidates who write clearly and are comfortable holding a delegated relationship to account.

How we support funds and investments recruitment

Before a search begins, our consultants establish the asset class, structures, systems and level of investor contact involved, along with the reporting line and the qualification position expected.

We also test whether fund experience is essential. Widening a brief to include strong administrators from trust or corporate services backgrounds frequently fills a role that would otherwise remain open, and it is worth considering at the briefing stage rather than after several months of searching.

From role briefing and candidate search through to shortlist preparation, interview coordination and appointment support, AP Personnel provides practical guidance at each stage, alongside market insight on candidate availability and salary expectations.

Temporary and contract fund support

Fund work runs to a calendar. Quarter and year-end reporting, audit, fund launches, migrations between administrators and closings all create defined peaks. AP Personnel places temporary and contract fund administrators for this kind of work, which is often quicker than a permanent appointment where the requirement is finite.

Looking for a funds or investments job?

AP Personnel also supports candidates looking for fund and investment roles across Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man. Whether you are starting out as a trainee administrator, moving across from trust, banking or client services, or ready to take on a team, our consultants can help you explore suitable opportunities.

We can advise on current vacancies, CV preparation, interview expectations, realistic salary levels and relevant qualifications. Manager, director and head of function appointments are handled by AP Executive, the senior-level recruitment division of AP Group.

Funds and investments recruitment FAQ

What funds and investment roles do AP Personnel recruit for?

AP Personnel recruits junior to mid-management funds and investments staff across Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man, including trainee, assistant and senior fund administrators, investment and investment operations administrators, transfer agency and investor services administrators, fund oversight, governance and reporting administrators, and team leaders.

What does a fund administrator do?

A fund administrator maintains the records of an investment fund: processing transactions, maintaining capital accounts, preparing investor and board reporting, and handling queries from investors, managers and auditors. The day-to-day work varies considerably with the asset class and structure.

Do I need fund experience to get a job in fund administration?

Not always. Clients regularly consider candidates from trust, corporate services, banking operations or client services who have strong administration skills, particularly at trainee and administrator level.

What is the difference between fund administration and fund accounting?

Fund administration covers the operational and investor-facing side of running a fund. Fund accounting covers the books, valuations and financial statements. The two overlap and people move between them regularly. Fund accounting roles are covered on our accountancy page.

Can you provide temporary fund administrators?

Yes. AP Personnel places temporary and contract fund staff for quarter and year-end reporting, audit, fund launches, administrator migrations and cover during recruitment or absence.
